Call on politicians in Romania to vote against the draft bill which would legalise the extermination of stray dogs. Unless something is done quickly a new law, due to be voted on in the Romanian parliament in the next few days, would clear the way for thousands of Romanian dogs to be destroyed over the next few months. FOUR PAWS urges you to act now and help save the lives of thousands of stray animals! The proposed bill – disguised under the name "humane euthanasia" – will allow the killing of healthy stray animals. It will give Romanian municipal authorities new powers to catch strays and keep them in animal shelters for thirty days. Once in the shelter the strays will be neutered, chipped and ear-tagged. Even after undergoing this expensive procedure mayors will be given the freedom to have the animals put down if they are not adopted within 30 days. Similar methods have already been used in the past, but the long-term results were unsatisfactory and came at a significant cost to the public purse. FOUR PAWS is calling on you the citizens of Europe to act now. Together we can put pressure on the Romanian parliament to REJECT this bill.
